Welcome 2015-2016

Pre-K began with an author study of Eric Carle.
I introduced the children to some of my favorites and some more classic stories by this author.

We spend a lot of time talking about the artwork created by Eric Carle in his books. One thing the children love to do is compare the front and end pages to see if they are the same! Looking closely like this at our stories allows them to discover the many different ways to enjoy books.

So far, we agree that Eric Carle loves to make circles. We discuss choice making (a very important part of social development) and how that applies to being an author and artist. When you are the author and artist YOU get to choose how to make the cover, the words, and the end pages.

Ask your child about their favorite Eric Carle story. Many of them can re-tell the story by looking at the pictures and can recite the words and phrases from the books we have read.
